Money Raised to Date: $ 8,058.20
Organized by the Palatine Police and Fire Benevolent Association (PPFBA)
Due to the continued government mandated closures of all bars & restaurants in the state of Illinois, many of the employees who work in our Palatine bars and dine-in restaurants are currently out of work. Even though the governor recently revealed a five-phase plan to reopen Illinois, it will be some time before restaurants and bars can fully reopen. Therefore, for those who rely on tips ( bussers, wait staff, food runners and bartenders), unemployment is just not going to be enough to carry them through this difficult time.
We are looking to you – our local community – to help them.
100% of the money donated to this effort will be turned into grocery gift cards and dispersed throughout the sit-down establishments in Palatine and will go directly to hourly employees to help sustain them during this incredibly challenging time. Beginning May 8th, we will have a lottery pull every Friday until the end of the month to determine the order in which establishments will be contacted. Restaurant managers will then distribute the cards to applicable laid off hourly workers.
Each gift card will be accompanied by a hand-written note of encouragement from Palatine residents and local student volunteers.
The PPFBA would like to thank Battalion Chief (Ret.) Scott Ohlrich and the Saladin family for their contributions to this fundraising effort.
Thank you for your support.
